人脸识别又有突破性进展
来自英国和澳大利亚的心理学家通过研究认为,如果图片或者摄像头提供的素材像素很低导致的人脸识别的准确度减低问题可以通过一种叫“标准化人脸平均方法”的功能重组,可以提高大大提高人脸识别的准确度。
来自林肯大学,约克大学和新南威尔士大学的学者比较了人类和自动面部识别系统在识别高质量图像,像素化图像和面部平均值的人员方面的有效性,并发现人类和计算机都更准确结合较差的图像而不是单个较差的图像。此外,计算机系统在组合高质量图像时比单个图像更准确,在某些情况下达到100%的准确度。
“我们知道并非所有监控系统都拥有高质量相机,这意味着人脸识别通常是由劣质图像制成的。我们已经证明,有一种相对快速简便的方法可以改善某人脸部的像素化图像,“林肯大学心理学院的Kay Ritchie博士说。“我们也知道有很多不同的技术可供人们用作调查工具来改善低质量图像,例如操纵亮度。我们的标准化人脸平均方法可以帮助解决来自低质量镜头的识别,其中来自多个不同摄像机的图像可用,例如,沿着特定路线跟踪嫌疑人。
研究中的参与者被要求将高质量图像与低质量图像或用平均法创建的图像进行比较,并且在观看组合图像时更加准确。研究人员称,智能手机应用程序和商业人脸识别系统在法医环境中被广泛使用,同样在复合图像中也表现出更高的准确度。
另外谷歌研究人员最近开发了一种方法,用于避免传统上对硬件容量限制的面部识别应用程序准确性的缓慢进行权衡。
